Climate

In Jirira, a semi-arid climate prevails, with temperatures oscillating between 5 and 15 °C on average. Rainfall is rare and unpredictable, except during the rainy season, which extends from December to March, transforming the salar into a vast mirror.

Note well: for the nights, it is essential to pack warm clothing, as temperatures can drop below freezing.

To reach Jirira, you must first travel to the town of Uyuni, located approximately 200 km southwest of Potosí. Several options are available to you: bus, train, or plane from the main cities in Bolivie. Once there, you can opt for renting a 4x4 with a driver or join an organized tour to cross the salar to Jirira. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and offers spectacular panoramic views of the salt desert.
