Different Ways to Explore Chuquiñapi Village

Between tranquility and calm away from crowds, the village offers an impressive selection of attractions and experiences to enjoy with friends or family.

A Cultural Visit to the Historic Monastery Casa de Retiro "José Ferrari"

The historic monastery Casa de Retiro "José Ferrari" is a retreat sanctuary, thoughtfully rehabilitated to welcome tourists. Built in colonial style, its grounds are impeccably maintained with a flower garden throughout. The place breathes serenity and opens the door to inner peace. It's the perfect spot to rest, with simple yet comfortable rooms and delicious meals. The exceptional service, the kindness of the community, and above all the beauty of the place will help you spend an unforgettable time.

A Beautiful Trek from Isla Sunata

To understand the authenticity of Chuquiñapi, escape on a wonderful trek from Isla Sunata. Accompanied by local guides, capture the splendor of this peninsula and take photos to immortalize the moment. Crossing the lake on foot—or "the Passage of Moses" as it's called—to reach it always provides unique moments to share with family. The walk lasts approximately 3 hours.

A Romantic Sail on Lake Titicaca

The tourism initiative undertaken by Italian priest Padre Leonardo Giannelli led to the construction of two magnificent catamarans in 2007 while training Chuquiñapi residents in sailing. During your visit, enjoy a romantic sail at the mercy of the wind aboard sailboats and take in breathtaking views of the imposing glaciated peaks of the Royal Cordillera. Sailing on Lake Titicaca at 3,800 meters altitude is an experience that is at once unusual and deeply restorative—one absolutely worth experiencing once in a lifetime.

The fastest way to reach Chuquiñapi from La Paz is by taxi. Alternatively, there are also buses available. You can also access the village by lake aboard a catamaran.
