Welcome to Bolivia! Wellness - Valley of the Moon
Arrival in La Paz, the world's highest administrative capital! Our driver takes us to our hotel located in the south zone, the wealthy neighborhood of La Paz, at more pleasant altitudes. Let's enjoy this modern hotel which features designer decoration and has 2 bars as well as a spa and a huge indoor pool. Let ourselves be tempted by a cocktail, perfect after a long journey to Bolivia!
The morning is dedicated to visiting the Valley of the Moon. A natural attraction of great beauty, created by water and air which, through their eroding effects on the terrain, have created formations that resemble a lunar landscape. Little anecdote, it owes its name to American astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first astronaut to walk on the moon.
"Lustras Botas" - Cable Car - Discovery
Today, we will carry out an original visit of the city of La Paz, guided by young shoe shiners. These latter, not proud of their street work, cover their faces so as not to be recognized by their loved ones. They will tell us how they ended up on the street and how they managed to get out of it thanks to this work organized by humanitarian associations.
Departure by private vehicle to the historic city center of La Paz. In addition to our English-speaking accompanying guide, our "shoe shiners" guide will help us discover the city from a different perspective.
We go up to one of the many cable car lines in this lively city, the red line, and descend where our walking tour begins, the main cemetery.
After a quick visit, we continue walking towards the "Fish Market", the "Flower Market" and the famous "Uruguay Market" where we can see various species of animals.
The visit continues to Eloy Salmon avenue, full of shops selling "hightech" household appliances and the "Cholitas Market" where we can see the Cholitas (local women) buying traditional skirts and blankets.
The visit concludes at the famous witches market on Linares and Sagarnaga streets, where we will learn a little about the Andean worldview.
Departure to Ali Pacha restaurant. Contemporary and cozy, Ali Pacha is perfect for a culinary break.
To finish this beautiful day, afternoon dedicated to discovering on foot the traditional markets and the historic center of the city of La Paz.
The cherry on top: dinner at Gustu restaurant. A romantic evening with a "tasting" menu of national and international cuisine, sophisticated and authentic.

The Chuquiñapi Community on the shores of Lake Titicaca
We leave in the morning by private vehicle to the village of Chuquiñapi, nestled in a lovely bay on the shores of Lake Titicaca, far from tourist trails. We settle at the José Ferrari monastery, a beautiful building that overlooks the lake.
After lunch at the monastery, we start a lovely hike to explore the small Sunata island. Then we head north along the shores of the lake back to the monastery. Dinner on site.
Walking time: approximately 2 to 3 hours (6 km)
Catamaran at Chuquiñapi and meeting with the Tuni community
The morning is dedicated to navigation on the lake in a traditional catamaran. Magnificent boat ride offering stunning views of the imposing glacial massifs of the Cordillère Royale.
Return to the monastery at the end of the morning. Lunch at the Jose Ferrari monastery.
Departure in the afternoon to reach Tuni, a small Aymara village located at the foot of the Condoriri massif. Meeting with families from the community.
Hiking to Laguna Chiakhota and Pico Austria
We are heading to Laguna Chiarkhota. We first depart heading due west to get around Laguna Tuni and climb up a valley in a north-east direction. We climb gently through a magnificent valley to the foot of the Condoriri massif up to Laguna Chiarkhota, the base camp for the Head of the Condor and Pequeño Alpamayo.
There we will discover the glacier that rises to Pequeño Alpamayo, but most importantly, we will have an unobstructed view of the Head of the Condor and its majestic glacier.
We then skirt around Laguna Chiarkhota on the left, heading north-west, along a trail that gradually becomes rocky and steep, heading south-east, until we reach Austria Pass at the foot of Condoriri (5140 m altitude). We will then have to tackle a steep and rugged scree field to climb up to Austria Peak which reaches 5300m altitude. The view from up there of the Condoriri massif is extraordinary!
Return to Tuni by the same route.
Optional: musical evening with a group from the neighbouring village of Chuñawi.

Tuni
Traditional breakfast made with, among other things, buñelos (a type of fritters) and api (a drink made from purple corn). Activities linked to community life (harvesting in the fields, llamas,..). Preparation of the huatia (meal cooked in an "oven" built underground using large hot stones).
After lunch, drive to the city of La Paz.
Uyuni - Discovery of the Valley of Rocks
Private vehicle transfer to El Alto airport. La Paz - Uyuni flight (schedules vary).
Expedition by 4x4 vehicle. To start, we visit the Train Cemetery located on the outskirts of the city. Most of the trains in this cemetery date back to the early 20th century and were imported from England to transport ore to Chile. Crossing of San Cristobal, a village relocated following the arrival of a mining company. Discovery of the Valley of Rocks where erosion has created strange shapes several meters high. Some more notable than others, we can play at finding the resemblances! One of the rocks perhaps has the shape of a football World Cup or a camel.
Dinner and night at the Mallku Cueva ecolodge.
Between Lagoons and Deserts
Villamar Mallcu → Tayka del Desierto
Our expedition of the day, in 4x4, will take us to discover the most beautiful Lagunas of the region. Journey to the Polques hot springs (4,000 m) where we have the opportunity to bathe with beautiful views of the Laguna Chalviri. Along the way, discover the famous "Dali's Desert" with its supernatural landscapes in light ochre tones. Finally, we reach the Laguna Blanca and especially the Laguna Verde (4,300 m) with its emerald colour and the Licancabur volcano as a backdrop. We return by the same route before stopping at the "Sol de Mañana" site (4,850 m alt.), a sector characterized by numerous geysers, fumaroles and mud pools. Arrival at the Laguna Colorada which hosts many colonies of pink flamingos parading before our eyes.
The track then takes the route of the Siloli desert. The latter is composed of numerous geomorphological formations including "the stone tree"…the local celebrity. The surrounding landscape is no less impressive with multicoloured mountains. A few additional kilometres are necessary before reaching the Desert hotel.

The Route of Jewels and Pink Flamingos
Tayka del Desierto → San Pedro de Quemez
Head north via La Route des joyaux, a series of several magnificent lagoons (Honda, Ch'arkota, Hedionda and Cañapa) some of which are home to colonies of pink flamingos. This is the perfect time for a selfie with a flamingo! A short stop is called for to admire the Ollaguë and Tomasamil volcanoes. We reach the Salar de Chiguana which concludes this beautiful day.
Arrival at Tayka de Piedra hotel in late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.
Ascent of Iruputuncu (5163m)
Early in the morning, drive towards the Irruputuncu volcano. The vehicle stops at the foot of the volcano near the Chilean border. First, ascend through a steep rocky slope, then in switchbacks through the rocks to the edge of the crater. Arrival at the heart of the volcano after 2 hours. Let yourself be surprised by the colors and the enormous fumes that envelop the mineral in its bright yellow color. Possibility of going beyond the crater to reach the pass located above (depending on the wind). Finally, we reach the summit in approximately 3 hours total. Return by the same path to the crater. Arrival at San Pedro de Quemez in the late afternoon.

Discovery of the Salar de Uyuni
We depart today towards the mythical Salar de Uyuni. On the way, visit the small Galaxies Cave, a quite unique place… The Salar de Uyuni is for many the most beautiful salt desert in the world. Crossing this immense immaculate surface, one of the most striking experiences of this journey that we will remember for a long time. This paradise on earth with its infinitely white landscape is simply magical. An island in a sea of salt, the Incahuasi Island or Casa del Inca, is stunning with its numerous cacti so tall they seem to touch the sky.

Route to Alto Toroni
In the morning, drive to reach the village of Llica. We cross the Salar d'Uyuni heading due West. From Llilica we set off for the small village of Bellen (3835 m alt.). We cross vast desert expanses with magnificent views of the enormous mountain massif that constitutes the Sillajhuay or Alto Toroni. Passage through the village of Chacoma and then we arrive at Bellen, nestled at the foot of the volcano. Arrival above the mine camp, then we descend to the mine cabins. Once permission from the miners to camp there is obtained, we set up our camp on a flat area above the mine, close to a stream at approximately 4735m.
Night at the base camp of the Sillajuay or Alto Toroni
Ascent of Sillajuay or Alto Toroni (6002m)
We depart in the night around 3 o'clock in the morning. Drive by vehicle on the carrossable track to the bottom of the valley, to a pass located at 5510m altitude. Depending on snow conditions, the vehicle may stop lower. We continue on foot. We climb onto a ridge that we follow until a viewpoint located at 5740 m. Then, steep descent of 85m elevation loss (depending on snow conditions, crampons may be necessary) before climbing back up to the foot of the summit ridge (5800m). We climb to the summit of Alto Toroni (6002 m alt.) from the viewpoint. Beautiful views of the Coipasa and Uyuni salt flats as well as the volcanoes on the Chilean side. Descent to the vehicle in 2h00.

Elevation gain/loss: +800m/-800m
Drive towards Llica then to the Uyuni salt flat. We reach the village of Jirira on the edge of the Salar.

Tunupa Viewpoint and Meeting with the Jirira Community
First, we head to the neighboring village of Coquesa, famous for the site of pre-Columbian mummies dating back around 700 years after Christ. Gradual and peaceful climb up to the viewpoint to enjoy a splendid view of the volcano's crater as well as the Salar d'Uyuni. Return by the same path in 1 hour.
Walking time: 3h
After this magnificent walk, we head to the village of Jirira for a beautiful encounter with this community. We discover the culture of quinoa and the cultural history of the area.
La Paz - Wellness
Ready for a massage? Let's take advantage of the hotel's Spa, the beautiful indoor pool or the trendy bar. Let's treat ourselves to a cocktail, perfect for us to relax after our Bolivie adventure on the high plateaus.
Death Road - Ecolodge Las Cascadas
La Paz → Ecolodge Las Cascadas
We set off by vehicle towards the Cumbre at 4,750 m altitude. The adventure begins! Descent of 3,500 meters of elevation loss down to Yolosa. We get back on board the vehicle. Steep climb of 650 m of elevation gain to reach Coroico, paradise of La Paz, where we enjoy a good buffet. Departure to the Ecolodge "Las Cascadas", located below the valley of the Rio Coroico.
Rafting/Kayak - Ecolodge Las Cascadas
Hiking to the Rio Coroico, where kayaks and rafts await you (your choice). Splendid descent of the river to Chojña. Return by vehicle to the ecolodge. Along the way, a stop at the beautiful waterfall named "Ensueño" to enjoy a refreshing swim. Note: bring spare clothes
Idleness in the Yungas
Ecolodge Las Cascadas → La Paz
Departure to reach exotic waterfalls to enjoy the place and rest. After lunch, drive to La Paz in a private vehicle.
Bon Voyage
Free time at the beginning of the day until the transfer to the airport for our return international flight.

The information below concerns travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and Canada traveling to Bolivia for a tourist stay. Since entry rules may change, we recommend that you verify this information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport
To enter Bolivia, your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months after your entry date into the country and must have at least one blank page for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn or altered pages).
Tourist stay without a visa
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Canada benefit from a visa exemption for tourist stays in Bolivia.
This exemption allows a stay of up to 90 days per year in Bolivian territory. This duration is calculated on a calendar year basis and generally cannot be exceeded without specific administrative procedures.
Authorities may also request:
an exit ticket from the territory (return or onward flight),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.
Tourist card
Upon arrival in Bolivia, travelers may be asked to complete a tourist card or entry form issued by Bolivian immigration services, particularly when entering by land.

It is advisable to keep this document throughout your stay, as it may be requested when leaving the territory.
Health and vaccinations
No vaccine is officially required to enter Bolivia from the EEA, Switzerland or Canada. However, vaccination against yellow fever is strongly recommended for travelers going to tropical lowland regions (Amazon, Beni and Santa Cruz departments).
It is also recommended to inquire about the risks associated with malaria in certain rural areas and to take appropriate precautions. The high altitude of certain Bolivian destinations (La Paz, Potosí, Uyuni) can cause altitude sickness (soroche): a medical consultation before departure is recommended.
Travel with children
Minors must hold their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay.
In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an authorization to leave the territory may be required according to the regulations of the country of residence. Bolivian authorities may also request documents proving the family relationship or parental authorization.

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire with the embassy or consulate of Bolivia in their country of residence.
